Sunday. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are coming up, but kids get their own day this weekend when Denver makes El Dia de los Niños a virtual block party. On Sunday, the Denver Art Museum, Denver Public Library, Colorado History Museum and the Byers- Evans House Museumall located within a couple of blocks of one another — team up for this year’s bilingual celebration of children and learning. All sorts of activities are planned at all four places, including art projects, music and storytelling. Live performances from Opera Colorado, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Maria Vasquez Group and others will light up the day, too. Kids get a free “passport” for the day’s travels, which is stamped at each building, and enter a raffle for cool prizes. Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Friday-Sunday. Mysterious nights are ahead at Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden. Its new production, “Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure,” once again pits the famous detective against his longtime enemy, the evil Professor Moriarty. Holmes and his faithful friend, Dr. Watson, must navigate London’s underworld to solve the mystery of a kidnapped opera singer — although Holmes may also find some romance along the way. Tuesday. Sound the alarm: Free ice cream! Every year, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream shops inspire joy and fear on their Free Cone Day. Joy comes for obvious reasons. Fear is for the long lines that will inevitably result. But who cares? It’s spring, and Ben and Jerry’s is far from free the rest of the year. Round up a gang of cone-crazed cronies and head out to one of the area’s participating Ben and Jerry’s Scoop Shops. Maybe you’ll make a new friend waiting in line for your free Chunky Monkey.
