Authorities have busted a half-way house employee who was reportedly recycling his urine by selling it to ex-offenders required to take drug-screening tests.

Russell Grant, 31, was allegedly selling the clean urine to people on parole or probation who had to submit to periodic urinalysis, said Lynn Kimbrough, a spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney’s office.

He received “$180 from an undercover police officer posing as a parolee,” according to Grant’s arrest warrant.

The employee of the Williams Street Center, which has a contract with the Department of Corrections, was arrested April 9 and released on a $10,000 bond.

He is charged with bribery and attempting to influence a public official.

The DOC’s Office of Inspector General launched an investigation after receiving a complaint that someone was selling clean urine samples late last year, Kimbrough said. Also involved in the investigation were the DA’s office and the Metro Gang Task Force.
