An inmate at the Adams County Jail hung himself in his cell, authorities said.
The inmate, a 30-year-old Westminster man, was found at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday by deputies during a routine check, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The statement did not name the man or indicate why it did not name him, and a spokesperson did not return a call asking those questions.
The release said the man was brought to the jail April 14 and was being held without bail on suspicion of parole violations and escape charges.
The inmate was being housed without a cellmate, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies tried to resuscitate the man but were unsuccessful.
The hanging death remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
