AURORA, Colo.—An indictment accusing a father of fatal child abuse could be made public on Wednesday.
The Colorado Supreme Court on Monday refused a request to reconsider its earlier order that the 60-count indictment against Aaron Thompson be released.
Thompson is scheduled for trial June 16 in the disappearance and presumed death of his 6-year-old daughter Aarone. Aurora police say they believe the girl is dead but her body has not been found.
The Denver Post and The Associated Press filed suit after a district judge sealed the indictment. The Supreme Court ordered the entire document released except for the names of alleged victims of child abuse and sexual assault.
Attorney General John Suthers had asked the court to reconsider, saying the indictment should remain sealed to “preserve the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”
