The University of Denver women’s golf team on Monday received the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Central Regional tournament in Austin, Texas.
DU won the Sun Belt Conference title last week with a 42-stroke victory over runner-up Arkansas-Little Rock and took the league’s automatic regional bid.
The three-round Central Regional is May 8-10, with a field of 21 teams and 324 individual players. The top eight teams and top two individuals not playing on the eight advancing teams earn bids to the national championships May 20-23 in Albuquerque.
UCLA is the No. 1 seed in the Central Regional, followed by Purdue and Alabama. Kent State is the No. 5 seed, followed by Pepperdine, LSU, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Texas.
MWC salutes AFA’s Gentry.
Air Force sophomore first baseman Addison Gentry was named the Mountain West Conference’s baseball player of the week after he went 6-for-11 with a grand slam, seven RBIs and four runs scored in the Falcons’ series victory over Brigham Young last week.
Gentry’s walk-off grand slam Thursday gave Air Force (15-25, 2-12 MWC) a 13-9 victory, snapping the team’s 55-game conference losing streak.
• Northern Colorado (15-29) wasted a 5-1 lead after four innings and lost 10-5 to Brigham Young (17-26) at Jackson Field in Greeley on Monday.

Colorado Mines will be the No. 1 seed when the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference softball tournament begins Thursday in Golden. The Orediggers open against No. 8 Western New Mexico.
No. 2 Adams State will play No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney, No. 3 Metro State meets No. 6 CSU-Pueblo and No. 4 Mesa State opens against No. 5 Fort Lewis.
