GREENWOOD VILLAGE — A man was working on a vintage Corvette when it backfired Friday night and sparked an engine fire in a Greenwood Village garage.
The fire that started just before 6 p.m. spread quickly from the garage to the home at 4481 South Yosemite Court, causing significant damage, said Andy Lyon, spokesman for South Metro Fire Rescue.
The homeowner tried to push the car out of the garage, but strong winds fueled the blaze, Lyon said.
A family of four and two pets escaped without injury, and none of the 40 firefighters responding in eight engines and two ladder trucks were hurt, Lyon said.
