Getting your player ready...

A good bet for this weekend — if the weather holds — is a jaunt to the Springs to see “Life as a Legend: Marilyn Monroe,” at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Here are a few places to eat in the area.

The Blue Star 1645 S. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, 719-632-1086,

Few restaurants match The Blue Star’s daring combinations of tastes, textures and colors on one delicious plate. Think of the pork, fish, chicken and beef dishes here as adventures waiting to happen. And spend some time on the wine list; it’s deep and there are plenty of by-the-glass options.

The Hub Carwash and Diner 4460 Forest Hill Road, Colorado Springs, 719-535-0346

Choose from two menus at this one-of-a-kind themed breakfast and lunch spot: omelets, sandwiches and shakes from column A; washes, waxes and interior detailing from column B. The cleanup takes place while you’re chowing down. An inexpensive diversion for any excursion to the Springs.

The Summit at the Broadmoor (pictured) 19 Lake Circle, 719-577-5896, Colorado Springs,

One of the best restaurants on the Front Range, The Summit is the right spot for a splurge. The “American Brasserie” fare is always excellent and so is the service. Take someone there that you want to impress.
