A woman who established an international school for butlers and chefs was arrested Tuesday by Denver police.
Mary Louise Starkey, 58, founder of the Starkey International Institute for Household Management, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace, according to Denver court records.
It is the second arrest for Starkey in the past six months.
Starkey was charged in November with second-degree assault in a February 2007 incident at the Starkey Mansion, 1350 Logan St., in which she is accused of injuring a student.
Tuesday’s arrest happened at an apartment at 1201 Williams St. and involved “domestic violence,” according to court records. She posted a $3,000 bond Wednesday and was released from jail. A trial date has been set for July 14.
The 2007 case alleges that Starkey became angry with Lisa Kirkpatrick because the student had not cut her hair in preparation for a photo shoot.
Kirkpatrick told police that Starkey had told her: “I already told you 20 times not to have your picture taken until you have had your hair done.”
Starkey allegedly grabbed Kirkpatrick by the neck and “dragged” her to a mirror. According to court records, Starkey continued to shake Kirkpatrick and “growled: ‘Now do you get it?’ ”
A doctor found that Kirkpatrick suffered a cervical disc injury, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing in the 2007 assault case is scheduled for May 27, according to Denver court records.
