It’s another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms today for the Eastern Plains — with snow in the mountains — but the weekend is looking sunny and warm.
Mostly cloudy skies over Denver today will bring a 50 percent chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms to the city, according to the National Weather Service. Denver’s high temperature today should be about 59 degrees.
Snow and snow showers in the mountains will gradually wind down as the day progresses, and accumulations today are expected to be less than 2 inches in most areas, the weather service said. The elevation line for snowfall today should be about 8,000 feet.
Early this morning in the mountains, about 3 inches of snow fell south of the Interstate 70 corridor over a three hour period.
But a warming trend is expected to take hold in the state starting tomorrow.
On Friday in Denver, skies should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 69 degrees, according to the weather service forecast.
Saturday and Sunday in the city should be sunny, with high temperatures climbing into the 80s.
