MORGAN COUNTY — Authorities say they are looking for an inmate who escaped Saturday night from the Morgan County jail by crawling through the screen of a roof.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office says this is the third time 33-year-old Melvin James Vierra has escaped from a jail, and they consider him armed and dangerous.
Vierra was jailed after being arrested in Stockton, Calif., on a parole violation and weapons charges.
The sheriff’s office says Fort Morgan residents were alerted about Vierra by reverse-911 calls.
Vierra is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. Sheriff’s deputies say he has several tattoos, including one on his neck that reads “Sonny Boy” and the name “Debbie” on his chest.
