Getting your player ready...

Stack these as high as you like. Serves 4.

Ingredients

1     cup fresh blackberries

1     cup fresh strawberries, halved

1     cup limoncello

2     tablespoons sugar

      Ladyfingers, purchased

1/2   cup lemon curd, purchased

      Torn mint leaves

Directions

Stir berries together with limoncello and sugar. Cover and let sit overnight.

Strain berries, reserving macerating liquid. Dip ladyfingers in liquid, then stack on plate, placing a spoonful of lemon curd between each layer. Top with berries, mint leaves and reserved liquid.

Wine ideas: This dish combines dessert and after-dinner booze in one dish, but if you did want to take it over the top, you might try a small glass of chilled Moscato d’Asti. This sweet, sparkling wine from northern Italy is light enough it won’t overwhelm the dish. Michele Chiarlo and Palladino are good, easy-to-find examples for less than $20. Tara Q. Thomas
