Swervedriver never met a gauzy, distorted melody it didn’t like, so it makes sense that the U.K. shoegaze group has reunited for a tour, including its first Denver show in more than a decade. Tonight at the Marquis Theater with the Life and Times and the Swayback. $15.
Doug Stanhope’s approach to stand-up harks to comedians Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison, disaffected truth-tellers who cut their social criticisms with hilarious indignation and matter-of-fact vulgarity. Stanhope plays the Oriental Theater tonight, followed by musical act the Mattoid. $15.
Chali 2na’s flows would likely hit just as hard without his uniquely deep voice, but it helps make the Jurassic 5 member’s turns all the more memorable. He plays Saturday at Owsley’s Golden Road and Sunday at Mishawaka Amphitheatre with the House of Vibe Allstars. $18-$20.
Dresden Dolls’ theatricality is a natural extension of the duo’s German cabaret influences, though its sound takes cues from an oddly coherent mix of genres (piano pop, singer-songwriter, indie rock). See the Dolls on Tuesday at the Ogden with Smoosh and Ukulele Loki. $25.
