Fact: According to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Schaffer took in about $134,000 from the energy and natural- resources sector between 1996 and 2008. The center says $65,000 of that came from oil and gas interests through April 2008. Those figures may not include individuals tied to oil companies who listed other professions or failed to list their profession.

Claim: “And voting in Congress to give oil and gas companies over $13 billion in tax breaks.”

Fact: The bill provided nearly $14 billion in tax incentives for fossil-fuel companies.
