The driver of an ice cream truck involved in a hit and run accident that sent a child to Children’s Hospital has turned himself into Denver police.
Twenty-one-year-old Adan Bashi of Denver told Denver police this morning that he was responsible for the accident that occurred Wednesday evening on Kalispell Street in Green Valley Ranch in northeast Denver.
Bashi was driving the GMC truck when at least two kids were skating alongside and clinging to the truck. One child, an 11-year-old girl, fell and the truck ran over her arm police said.
Witnesses of the accident said Bashi stopped and got out of the truck, looked at the girl, and proceeded to get back in the truck and drive away.
According to Denver Police Spokesman Sonny Jackson, once Bashi knew police were looking for him, he turned himself in.
Bashi faces three misdemeanor charges, including two counts of failing to report an accident, and one count of failing to render aid.As for the girl, she was treated at Children’s Hospital of Aurora for minor injuries. Her arm was not broken, Jackson confirmed.
