Jake Smith, 13, of Broomfield was eliminated in the fifth round with the word “aulos.” He spelled it “allos.” Jake, an eighth-grader at Aspen Creek K-8 School, was sponsored by the Daily Camera in Boulder.
Alec Ryan Smith, 11, of Highlands Ranch, and Jake’s brother, was eliminated Thursday in the second round. He was sponsored by the Rocky Mountain News.
