Les Borsheim, a 29-year-old defenseman for the Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League, suffered a neck injury Sunday in a motorcycle accident about three miles east of Greeley. He faces several charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol.
Borsheim, who was not wearing a helmet, was airlifted to the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, where he was in critical condition and having neck surgery, The Associated Press reported. Several of his teammates held a vigil at the hospital.

Longmont resident Scott Jensen got his money’s worth over the weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
The privateer received a wild-card entry to the world superbike race and finished 20th on Sunday and 23rd on Saturday.
Jensen, a regular on the AMA circuit, raced his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a 13th-place finish in the AMA superbike race Sunday and was 10th on Saturday. In superstock, the 32-year-old rider experienced some trouble, finishing 26th.
Goucher step closer to Olympics.
Kara Goucher, the world bronze medalist in the 10,000 meters, ran under the Olympic automatic qualifying standard Saturday night in Portland, Ore.
Goucher, a former cross country All-American at the University of Colorado, finished the 10,000 in 31 minutes, 26.48 seconds, under the “A” standard of 31:45. A top-three finish at the U.S. Olympic trials and the “A” standard are needed to secure a spot on the Olympic team for the Beijing Games this summer.
