FORT COLLINS — The Larimer County coroner says a woman whose body was discovered in a burning house Friday morning had been sexually assaulted and strangled before the fire was set. Linnea Dick, 20, was found dead in her Fort Collins home Friday morning after a neighbor reported smoke coming from a window on the west side of the home, police spokeswoman Rita Davis said.
Firefighters called to 124 Yale Ave. found Dick’s body in an upstairs bedroom. The fire had been started in an upstairs bedroom and the basement, authorities said.
Police are searching for Dick’s teal 1997 Nissan Altima, believed stolen. The front and back license plate holders display small red skulls that look like cherries or dots from a distance, and a Colorado license plate 015KFH, Davis said. Anyone with information about the car or the case should contact Detective Kristy Volesky at 970-224-6116.
