DENVER—Fire officials say 30 nursing home residents evacuated after an early morning fire have been allowed back to their building.

The Denver Fire Department says the blaze began on a mattress on the first floor Monday at about 2 a.m. The residents on the first and second floor of The Golden Manor Nursing Home were evacuated and one was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Fire spokesman Gregg Champlin says the two top floors of the building were not evacuated. He says the nursing home has about 65 residents.

Champlin says investigators are looking into how the fire started on the mattress.
