NEW ORLEANS — Residents have been given until next month to vacate federally issued trailers intended as temporary housing after Hurricane Katrina.

The city says it will begin enforcing an ordinance July 1 that makes it illegal to live in travel trailers and recreational vehicles. The deadline is part of an effort to rid the city of the federal trailers by Aug. 29, Katrina’s third anniversary.
