DURANGO, Colo.—A former Colorado Springs Police Department deputy chief and interim chief has been chosen to head the Durango Police Department.
Durango City Manager Ron LeBlanc said Friday that he selected 52-year-old David Felice from about 65 applicants. Felice would replace former Police Chief Al Bell, who retired in April after 14 years leading the Durango Police Department.
If the City Council confirms Felice as chief at a meeting June 16, Felice will start his new job July 7 with an annual salary of $103,000.
Colorado Springs has almost 700 sworn peace officers while Durango has 68.
