Commerce City police, aiming to curb illegal street racing, put the brakes such a contest Sunday in the 5400 block of East 48th Avenue. The city’s Special Investigative Unit wrote 73 citations for “aiding and facilitating a speed contest.” Three people were arrested, two for giving false information and one for interference with a police operation. Police towed six cars, including two that were racing when officers showed up.
