In addition to offering a “dad” as the haiku topic a week early, we also messed up and selected a winner that did not haiku meter standards. To make amends this week, we’re offering you the two takes on the issue of flags we thought were the best submissions to The Denver Post $25 Haiku Contest. First, Marcia Hook of Trinidad with this smartypants look at loyalty:
Small flags in lapels
U.S. flags made in China
So patriotic!
And then, from Maryann Swartz of Littleton, a verse of hope:
We all long for peace.
Our flag represents freedom.
Could we have them both?

Our favorite wins a $25 gift certificate to the Tattered Cover Book Store.
