LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says all signs point to Khiry (KY-ree) Cooper being with the football team rather than the Los Angeles Angels organization this fall.

Cooper is one of the Cornhuskers’ top recruits at receiver.

But he also was a star center fielder for Calvary Baptist Academy in Shrevenport, La. The Angels made him a fifth-round pick in last week’s major league draft.

Pelini said Thursday that Cooper is still negotiating with the Angels. But the coach says Cooper’s presence in Lincoln this summer “sends a pretty strong message to what his intentions are.”

Pelini says he’ll be supportive if Cooper wants to play baseball, as well as football, for the Huskers.
