Politicians years ago mastered the art of using the American flag as a political prop. They draped themselves in Old Glory, visiting flag factories on campaign stops and making sure the red, white and blue waved just so behind them at each appearance.
But there’s a new campaign prop: windmills. Assuming all voters are bent on being greener than Kermit the Frog, politicians of all stripes are posing and posturing in front of every wind turbine from Lamar to Cheyenne. It’s clean! It’s green! It’s a windmill!
One more ad with a wind turbine and the once-smart move will become a cliché faster than you can say “global climate change.”
