ALAMOSA – A body has been recovered in a southern Colorado reservoir where a San Luis man disappeared while swimming two weeks ago.
Authorities have not said whether the body is that of 45-year-old Carl Trujillo, who was last seen June 3 trying to swim to an island in Sanchez Reservoir.
Authorities say a companion tried to rescue Trujillo in a canoe, but the canoe capsized. Authorities ay the companion swam to shore and Trujillo clung to the capsized canoe for at least an hour, but he lost his grip and went under before another boat could be found to rescue him.
Anglers spotted the body on Friday and called 911. Sheriff’s deputies pulled the body from the water.
Sanchez Reservoir is about seven miles south of San Luis and 80 miles southwest of Pueblo.
