DENVER—Denver’s host committee for the Democratic National Convention fell $11.6 million short of a $40.6 million fundraising goal set by the Democratic National Committee.
The $40.6 million was to be raised by a Monday midnight deadline. The host committee reported Monday it had raised $29 million.
The shortfall could complicate logistics for the Aug. 25-28 convention. The host committee has failed to meet its previous fundraising deadlines. The cash problem already has forced the committee to cancel 24 delegate welcoming parties.
