NEW YORK — Convicted securities class-action lawyers Mel Weiss, Bill Lerach and Steven Schulman, who admitted paying clients kickbacks in a scheme to win bigger fees, were sued by a former partner at their old firm, now called Milberg LLP.

Douglas Richards, who quit the New York-based firm last year, alleged the three men lied to him when they denied any wrongdoing and that his career and financial interest in the firm were “seriously injured,” according to a complaint filed Tuesday in federal court in Manhattan.
