In the week of Father’s Day, former Mullen High School quarterback Clint Brewster has left his dad’s football program.
The younger Brewster, who redshirted in 2007, his first as a Minnesota Gopher, will transfer, according to Tim Brewster, the team’s head coach.
Tim Brewster released a brief statement on the Big Ten school’s website: “Clint Brewster has decided to transfer. I respect and admire Clint’s decision to further his education and play football elsewhere.”
Clint Brewster, expected to compete for the backup position this season, apparently saw his playing opportunities dwindle after his father signed two highly regarded players, one from junior college and another from Indiana, for the upcoming season.
Clint Brewster, at 6-feet-1, 185 pounds, threw 49 touchdown passes in two years as Mullen’s starter and played in the 2005 and 2006 Class 5A title games.
