That reality show: “Try to catch a Tiger” was a big hit with viewers Monday.
The U.S. Open playoff between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate earned a 7.6 overnight rating and 20 share during the time it was on NBC (noon-2:45 p.m.) local time, the network announced Tuesday. That was just 11 percent less than the 8.5 overnight rating for Sunday’s fourth round.
The first two hours of the playoff on ESPN drew the highest cable rating ever for golf with a 4.2 (4,762,000 viewers).
The rating is the percentage watching a program among homes with televisions, and the share is the percentage tuned into the broadcast among those households with TVs on at the time.
