Greeley will be looking for a new fire chief.
Douglas Forsman, 62, has resigned as chief of the Union Colony Fire Rescue Authority to take on that role in Champaign, Ill.
His resignation is effective Aug. 1, the fire authority said in a news release.
Forsman has been chief in Greeley since April 2002. Prior to that, was was in Oklahoma, and Champaign 1980-1992.
“It is a bittersweet move back to Champaign”, Forsman said in a statement. “I work with a great set of people at Union Colony Fire Rescue and in the City of Greeley, but this is an opportunity to return to the Midwest where I have roots.”
Forsman is president of the Colorado State Fire Chiefs’ Association and will leave three months before the end of his term.
