Today is the last day of Animas River Days, a whitewater festival that honors and celebrates the Animas River, at Santa Rita Park along U.S. 550 just south of downtown Durango. The event includes food, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, fly-fishing and tying demonstrations, and interactive activities for children. Parking is extremely limited; the free Durango Transit shuttle picks up and drops off from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Durango Community Recreation Center, Chapman Hill, Backcountry Experience, Albertsons, Santa Rita Park and 4 Corners Riversports. animasriverkeep or

Scandinavian celebration.

Estes Park’s annual Scandinavian Midsummer Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through June 29 in Bond Park, at East Elkhorn and MacGregor streets. Activities include: a 20-foot tall Maypole, Fjellborg Viking re-enactors demonstrating Viking craft and combat skills, music, Finnish folk painting, demonstrations in woodcarving, handangar and bondesom embroidery, and spinning and knitting. The park will be filled with vendors selling Scandinavian food, baked goods, decorations and crafts.

Free screening of “The Sandlot.”

The movie will be shown at dusk after activities July 3 at America the Beautiful Park, 126 Cimino Drive, Colorado Springs. Take a picnic blanket and chairs.
