A man was seriously injured this afternoon when the road grader he was driving was struck by a train.
Weld County sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:37 p.m. to the intersection of county roads 6 and 27, said Undersheriff Margie Martinez. The train was traveling north on the Union Pacific line when it hit the westbound Weld County road grader.
The Greeley Tribune reported later that Wigham had died, but Martinez could not be reached for comment.
The force of the impact separated the cab from the rest of the vehicle, ejecting the driver, Doug Wigham.
Martinez earlier said that Wigham, who has worked for the county for 10 years, was airlifted to Denver Health Medical Center.
The roads were closed while the accident was cleared.
