CORTEZ, Colo.—A judge ruled prosecutors can proceed with their case against a man accused of killing his father, dismembering the body, feeding flesh to coyotes and encasing hands, feet and a skull in cement in buckets.

Twenty-year-old Jeremiah R. Berry was in court Friday where a detective described details from a police interview in April. About a dozen people, including friends of Berry, were in the courtroom.

Berry told police he shot Jack Berry in a canyon on or about Feb. 19 after his father allegedly raped him. Before raping him, he said his father told him he had been told by God his son needed a sex change to become his wife.
