CASPER, Wyo.—Kaycee Feild moved into contention for the men’s all-around championship by taking the lead in team roping Friday, a day after taking the lead in bareback riding.

Feild, son of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world champion and Hall of Fame inductee Lewis Feild, partnered with Carson Miles for a 14.3-second third-round run for a total of 33.3 seconds. Both are from Utah Valley State College, where the elder Feild is rodeo coach.

Nikke Steffes, of Vale, S.D., moved into contention for the women’s all-around championship by advancing to the goat tying and barrel racing finals. Jordan Crossley of Walla Walla Community College is also vying for the title by advancing to the finals in breakaway roping and barrel racing.

The finals will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.
