A retired Denver Public Schools administrator was stabbed to death in her St. Louis home on Thursday. Authorities arrested her husband in her death.
Marsha Gentry Pointer, 57, was an administrator at Manual High School until her retirement two years ago. She was principal of Leadership High School, one of three “schools within a school” at the troubled school before it closed in 2006.
Manual reorganized and reopened in 2007.
“She was an amazing person,” said Susan Kidd, who knew Pointer for nearly 40 years. “She really loved kids.”
Kidd said she was learned of her friend’s death from Pointer’s family.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper, James Pointer has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of his wife.
Marsha Pointer is survived by her mother, a sister and two brothers.
