VAIL — Rescue crews suspended the search Monday for a Nebraska woman thrown off her horse into the fast-moving waters of Beaver Creek.

Mary Brake, 56, a prominent Lincoln Realtor, was riding with her husband, Gene Brake, chief executive of HomeServices of Nebraska, and 9-year-old daughter when her horse lost its footing in the swift water on Friday.

Eagle County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said rescuers assume she is no longer alive.

Rescuers from 16 agencies searched for more than three days along a 3.5-mile stretch downstream.
