GOLDEN — The jury has begun deliberations in a sexual-assault case against a former band and music teacher at Evergreen high and middle schools involving two teenage students.

William Robert Eisenman, 33, has been charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, unlawful sexual contact and providing alcohol to a minor.

In closing arguments today, prosecutor Dana Easter said Eisenman did “very depraved things” with a 16-year-old Evergreen High student because he “convinced her to do those things because he had amazing power over her.”

Easter said there were 21 sexual acts between Eisenman and the girl between March 1, 2007, and May 18, 2007, including in his school office, backstage, the orchestra pit, his car, his home and at two motels.

Eisenman also touched the breast of another Evergreen High student, who was 18, in a motel room after providing her wine, Easter said.

Defense attorney Lee Harrell, who did not put on a case, argued that when the 18-year-old asked Eisenman to stop after touching her breast, he did. They then slept together, but there was no further sexual contact, he said.

The then-16-year-old girl created “a fantasy” about interludes with Eisenman, Harrell said. The girl’s friends, parents, band members and school resource officer were unaware of any of the alleged events.

“He had an inappropriate relationship but he did not break the law,” Harrell said. “Perhaps he ought not to teach again.”

Eisenman worked for Jefferson County Public Schools for one year and previously worked at several schools on the Western Slope.
