Friends are rallying to help a 22-year-old Denver man who has been in and out of a medically induced coma since suffering a severe head injury in a skateboarding accident during “Go Skate Day” this month.
The website has been set up for the victim, Levi Huffman, who is a local skateboarder and member of the Board Cartel skate team in Wheat Ridge.
The site has updates on his condition, posted by family and friends, and is accepting donations for Huffman.
A recent posting on the website, dated 5:10 p.m. Saturday, indicated Huffman is awake and “returning to his previous state of consciousness.”
Huffman is expecting his first child with his fiancee, Robyn, in December, said Matt Erickson, Huffman’s cousin.
Donations also can be made to the Levi Huffman Fund at any Wells Fargo bank.
A benefit skate contest will be held July 12 at Woodward Skate Park. The cost is $10.
All proceeds will go to Huffman and his family, said David Cunningham of the Board Cartel team.
