An interview with the Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney that has not been heard since 1964 was broadcast Monday on BBC Radio. It was salvaged from the audio track of a damaged roll of film shot at Scottish Television on April 30, 1964. On the tape, Lennon talks about meeting McCartney when they were teens, and McCartney expounds on songwriting.
“Normally, we sit down and try and bash one out,” McCartney said. “But then again, there’s no formula, because (Lennon) can come up with one completely finished. We still say we both wrote it, though.” The Philadelphia Inquirer
