Safeway’s Denver division expanded its fuel-rewards program Tuesday. The company also gave $5,000 to the Meals on Wheels program for gas during an event announcing the expansion.
Under the PowerPump Rewards program, customers can receive a 10-cent discount per gallon for every $100 they accumulate on their Safeway club cards through multiple transactions, director of marketing Paul McTavish said. They previously could get 10 cents off per gallon by spending $50 in a single transaction.
Customers can save an additional 10 cents a gallon by filling two pharmacy prescriptions or buying $100 in selected gift cards.
The savings accumulated can be used at once or saved for later, but it will expire on Sept. 30, McTavish said. The next cycle runs through Dec. 31. Alex McCarthy, The Denver Post
