The Army has identified a Fort Carson soldier killed in an accident after a police chase in Colorado Springs early Sunday morning as Spec. Kacey C. Day, 20, of Camas, Wash.
“The Mountain Post family is deeply saddened by the death of one of our own. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this Soldier,” said Col. B. Shannon Davis, Fort Carson chief of staff.
The chase by Fort Carson military police began on the base at about 3 a.m. Sunday.
“Fort Carson Military police attempted to initiate a traffic stop for erratic driving on post. (Day) didn’t stop and they continued to follow him off post and the car crashed,” said Fort Carson spokeswoman Karen Linne.
A woman who was riding with Day and the driver of another car he hit were both injured.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
