DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche have signed free agent defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist (T’YAHRN-kvihst) to a one-year contract.
The deal was announced Thursday.
Tjarnqvist, a 31-year-old native of Sweden, has 16 goals and 80 assists in 315 NHL games with Atlanta, Minnesota and Edmonton. He played last season in the Russian hockey league.
The Avalanche also signed forward Chris Durno, who spent the last three seasons in the AHL.
