Richard Roby, University of Colorado’s the all-time leading scorer, and fellow standout Marcus Hall broke through to the NBA on Wednesday after each signed deals with Eastern Conference teams.
Roby, a 6-foot-6 guard, signed with the New Jersey Nets. Hall, a 6-2 guard, signed with the New York Knicks.
“I feel more than blessed with this opportunity,” Hall said. “I know I have a lot to do in becoming a New York Knick and there’s a lot of hard work in front of me.”
Hall — who finished fourth on CU’s all-time assist list with 423 and third in career games with 120 — joins 14 other players on the Knicks’ summer roster. He is one of eight rookies on the squad.
Roby, who tallied 2,001 points in a four-year college career, will play for the Nets’ summer league team at the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City. His contract runs through July 25, after which he can become a free agent.
