GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A wildfire burning 29 miles outside of Grand Junction is being allowed to burn.
The fire is estimated to be burning on about 300 acres in very steep terrain in the Grand Mesa National Forest.
The fire is over two miles away from private land and burning away from it on pinon and juniper.
Jaime Gardner of the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center said the fire was sparked by lightning from a storm that moved through the area last week. It didn’t flare up until Tuesday.
