An undercover investigation in Eagle County netted the arrest of an 18-year-old suspected of dealing cocaine in El Jebel, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Renato Monroy of Carbondale was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony possession and distribution of cocaine. Authorities say he sold 139 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer.
Monroy is in the Eagle County Detention Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail. If convicted, he could receive up to 18 years in prison, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation began after an anonymous tip to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities also noted that anonymous tips about drug activity or other crimes can net a $1,000 reward if they lead to an arrest. Tips can be made to Eagle County CrimeStoppers at 970-328-7007 or 800-972-8577.
