HONOLULU — Police and family members were searching Thursday for the founder of Boulder-based Webroot Software who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was last seen June 30 at a Waikiki hotel.
Steven Thomas, 36, of Lanikai was diagnosed in April but has refused medication, his family said. He also owns a home in Boulder.
“He thinks everyone on the island is out to get him,” said his wife, Candis Thomas. “He thinks the military is involved, he thinks that aliens are involved, and he’s just been in a real delusion state of being fearful.”
Steven Thomas, who sold privately held Webroot for $108 million in 2004, was arrested April 27 and taken to a hospital after he ran naked into a race/walk in front of his home.
Residents have told police they have seen Thomas, but officers have been unable to locate him. “He’s a step ahead of us,” Sgt. Kim Buffet said.
