If you’re commuting by bicycle in the metro area, you may want to swerve through some sprinklers to beat the heat, which had climbed to 95 degrees as of 3:30 this afternoon.

Tonight, expect relief as the low drops to around 55 degrees. The National Weather Service forecasts calm winds through most of the day, with overnight gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday will be much cooler, with a high near 81 degrees. Skies will be clear during the day and mostly clear Saturday night. The overnight low will be around 59 degrees, the Weather Service says.

Sunday will be slightly warmer than Saturday. Mostly sunny skies will bring a high near 89 degrees, while the overnight low will drop to around 62 degrees. Rain is no longer forecast for the weekend, the weather service reports.

Early next week, temperatures will begin climbing again. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected Monday through Wednesday, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 60s.
