DENVER—A woman accused of punching a flight attendant has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and interfering with a flight attendant.
Christina Elizabeth Szele of Woodside, N.Y., entered her plea in Denver federal court today through her attorney. She did not attend the hearing.
The FBI says 35-year-old Szele hit an attendant on a Jet Blue flight from New York to San Francisco on June 17.
She is also accused of shouting obscenities and racial epithets at a flight attendant who tried to stop her from smoking.
The pilot diverted the flight to Denver, where she was arrested.
Her trial has been tentatively set for Sept. 8.
