WELD COUNTY — Weld County investigators have arrested a man suspected in a fatal shooting Saturday night just east of Platte ville.
Norberto Abundez, 42, of Fort Lupton was arrested at a relative’s home in Adams County about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Abundez is suspected of driving a van into the yard of the victim and shooting him with a rifle earlier in the evening.
Investigators think Abundez thought the victim was having an affair with his wife, said Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez. “That’s the allegation,” she said.
Authorities are not releasing the identity of the slain man until his next of kin are notified.
Abundez was arrested in February on an assault charge against the victim, and a restraining order had been issued.
