Members of Carl Frazier’s Illinois family said they know of no reason why he was shot dead on the street near Colfax Avenue and Federal Boulevard at 3:40 a.m. Saturday.
“He was not a drinker, he was not a drugger, he didn’t do anything I can think of that would put him in this position, to be shot like this,” said his brother-in-law Ron Anderson.
Frazier, 41, was a computer analyst for the Catholic Health Initiatives hospital group based in Denver. He was found shot to death on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of West 14th Avenue. His wallet was taken and his car was parked a few feet away in an alley, his brother-in-law said.
Frazier’s driver’s license and Social Security card were discarded a short distance away, his brother-in-law said.
Frazier was accomplished in academics and computer technology, holding several college degrees, including an MBA he completed only three weeks ago.
He had held corporate positions in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles before arriving in Denver less than a year ago to work for Catholic Health Initiatives, his brother-in-law said.
“He was at the top of his field, both academically and professionally,” Anderson said.
Frazier’s funeral is Saturday in the cental Illinois town where he grew up, Pekin. He was single and had no children.
Officers were called when a nearby resident heard an eruption of gunfire early Saturday morning.
Police Monday asked for the public’s help. Anyone with information can call 720-913-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. A tip that leads to an arrest could result in a $1,000 reward. Those providing tips can remain anonymous.
